With the snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro ever present in the background on a clear day, Amboseli - 3,810 Sq. Kms, is justly famous for its big game and scenic beauty. Kilimanjaro is the highest single mountain in the world and the tallest part of Africa. Game viewing is particularly easy in this park. There is a permanent concentration of animals in the area centered around the dry salt lake at Ol Tukai. Amboseli is noted for its now dwindling black rhino population, but there are resident herds of elephant, buffalo, wildebeest, giraffe, zebra, gazelle and other plains game. Cheetah are frequently seen and there are hippos in the swamp. Birds are numerous and special attraction in the lake and marsh area.

Day 03
Enjoy dawn and late afternoon game drives in the park. All meals and overnight at Tortilis Camp.

Tortilis Camp is a charming rustic tented lodge, shaded by an oasis of indigenous Acacia Tortilis (Umbrella Thorn) trees on the edge of Amboseli National Park. Each Tent is sheltered by a traditional makuti (thatched) roof with stylish roomy interiors and a comfortable private verandah, perfect for afternoon siestas….. The park is famous for its herds of elephant, the views across the Amboseli plains, overshadowed by the world’s highest free standing mountain: Kilimanjaro.

Day 04
Early breakfast at the Camp prior to being transferred to the airstrip for 08.30 flight to Nairobi. Arrive at 09.15 and immediately connect the schedule flight to Nanyuki. 10.10 Arrival in Nanyuki and board the private charter flight to Loisaba Wilderness scheduled to depart at 10.30hrs. On arrival, met and transferred to Loisaba. Lunch at Loisaba, afternoon free to enjoy the various activities. (At Loisaba, 01 nights will be in star beds and the other at the Lodge) Dinner and overnight hence at Starbeds and Loisaba Lodge

Loisaba Wilderness. The same size as the Ngorongoro Crater and larger than many of Kenya’s principal National Parks. To the north lie the grassy plains of the plateau; to the south, the plateau breaks into valleys, cliffs and escarpments that frame stunning views up to the snows of Mount Kenya. At their base lies a different riverine ecosystem fed by the banks of two major rivers, the Ewaso N’giro and the Engare Narok. The wilderness is a haven for more than 250 species of birds and 50 species of wildlife. Alongside all the more usual types, elephant, buffalo, grevy zebra and greater kudu abound; the area is also rapidly gaining a reputation for exceptional big cat sightings. Even wild dog, thought for many years to be extinct in the region are now being regularly sighted. Conservation. The Loisaba Wilderness is run by the Wilderness Guardian Company, a conservation enterprise established by Peter Silvester, Tom Silvester and Giles Davies in 1997. All profits generated by tourism activities at Loisaba are dedicated to conservation of the 150 square kilometre private wilderness area in addition to supporting community orientated health, education and enterprise programmes outside its boundaries with the neighbouring Samburu and Laikipiak Masai tribes people.

The Lodge. Constructed from stone, cedar and thatch, the lodge is perched high on the edge of the plateau looking south towards Mount Kenya. Each room has large French windows that open onto a private deck cantilevered off the escarpment. The views are legendary, and a thousand feet below a water hole draws continuous wildlife. All the furniture in the lodge is handmade at Loisaba. The lodge has a swimming pool, tennis court, bocce court and croquet lawn.

Day 05
Day free to enjoy the various activities. All meals and overnight at Loisaba Lodge or Starbeds

The Star Beds. The two sets of Star Beds are unique to Loisaba. The first and original set are located among a kopje of rocks in one of the eastern valleys overlooking a large water area at Kiboko. The second and newer set is located about 8 kilometres further south on the banks of the Ewaso N’giro River. These are dramatically hung over the flowing waters below and are reached by boat from the opposite bank. These are known as the Koija Star Beds and are part of an exciting new joint venture project that Loisaba has undertaken in partnership with the Laikipiak Masai people from the neighbouring Koija tribal lands. Each Star Bed is different and comprises a raised, handcrafted wooden platform semi-covered with a thatched roof. Homemade ‘Mukokoteni’ beds can either be wheeled out onto the uncovered area for a night under the stars, or left under the shelter of the roof. The Star Beds are normally reached on one or a combination of foot, horse or camel and with two sets now in place create a unique opportunity to travel between them both and the lodge as part of a Star Bed Expedition. Guests are guided and hosted by a team of traditional Samburu and Laikipiak Masai warriors. Food is prepared in traditional camp style over a fire at the open walled, central mess area. Each platform has a flush loo and large camp-style drum showers. Each is sited to ensure complete privacy.

Day 06
After breakfast, private charter flight to Nanyuki at 09.30. On arrival, met by your driver/guide for a visit to the Weavers and should you wish to visit any local places before proceeding to Sweetwaters Camp arriving for lunch. This afternoon, enjoy a game drive in the Sanctuary, visit the chimps project and Morani the tame rhino. Dinner and overnight at Sweetwaters Tented Camp

Day 07
Breakfast at the Camp. At around 09.00 transferred to the airstrip for 10.00 AM flight to Masai mara. On arrival at 11.30, met in a 4WD camp vehicle and transferred to your Camp. 16.00 Enjoy a game drive in the reserve. Lunch, dinner and overnight at your Luxury Camp

The Masai Mara National Reserve (1,812 sq. km) offers wonderful scenery and an abundance of big game. With its rolling plains and grasslands it is reminiscent of ‘Hemingway Country’. There are very large herds of buffalo, wildebeest and various antelopes. In addition hippo, giraffe, rhino, elephant and leopard are frequently seen. The Mara is particularly renowned for its magnificent black-manned lions with their large prides who spend most of the day sleeping in the shade of the acacia trees. The Mara is also the scene of the spectacular wildebeest migration that comes through the Mara annually in search of water between July and October in their 1000km round annual trek from southern Serengeti plains.

Day 08
05.15 Early rise in readiness for the transfer to the balloon launch site at 05.30. 06.00 Take off and after approximately 01 hour’s flight, land and enjoy a bush breakfast with a splash of champagne. Afterwards, transferred back to the camp, game viewing en route. 16.00 Enjoy a game drive in the reserve Lunch, dinner and overnight at the Luxury Camp

Day 09
Enjoy dawn and late afternoon game viewing drives in the reserve. All meals and overnights at the Luxury Camp

Day 10
Final game drive prior to breakfast at the Camp. Later at around 10.45 transferred to the airstrip for return schedule flight to Nairobi scheduled to depart at 11.00hrs. 12.00hrs On arrival, met and transferred to the Giraffe Manor. This afternoon at leisure at the Manor. Lunch, dinner and overnight at Giraffe Manor

The Giraffe Manor, built in 1932 by Sir David Duncan, is situated on 120 acres of land just a few miles from the centre of Nairobi, Kenya's capital city. In 1974 Jock Leslie-Melville, grandson of a Scottish earl, and his wife Betty, who also founded the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife (AFEW), bought the Manor. They then moved five babies of the highly endangered Rothschild giraffe to their property where they have been successfully reared and they now have their own babies. The Giraffe Manor is a Mecca for famous people who include names like, Margaret Mead, Walter Cronkite, Brooke Shields, Richard Chamberlain, Steve Sondheim, Lee Remick, Johnny Carson, Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall - and many other titled notables.

Day 11
Breakfast at the Hotel, remainder of the day at leisure in Nairobi to visit Daphne Sheldrick`s Animal Ophanage followed by Utamaduni Craft Centre. Lunch at the Giraffe Manor. This afternoon, visit Karen Blixen Musuem and Matt Bronze for souvenir shopping. Early dinner and later transferred to the airport for your departure flight.

SATL3: Tanzania Explorer

Day 01
On arrival in Kilimanjaro Airport or Arusha, be met and transferred to your lodge. Dinner and overnight at Ol Doinyo Orok

Day 02
This day is for relaxing by taking a day trip to Arusha National Park for a game drive. With the stunning Mt. Meru as a backdrop, this is your first safari experience with the lush vegetation, mammal species and countless birds of an ecosystem. Returning to the Hotel late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Ol Doinyo Orok

Day 03
After breakfast, depart for Tarangire National Park arriving in time for lunch at Swala Camp. This afternoon enjoy a game viewing drive in the park. Dinner and overnight at Swala Camp.

Day 04
Full day spent in Tarangire, this park has the largest concentration of elephants, and is home to the rare Kudu. If conditions are good, you may spot predators stalking prey as they come to drink from the Tarangire River or elephants coming to bathe. All meals and overnight at Swala Camp

Day 05
Breakfast at the Camp, afterwards enjoy a morning game drive returning for lunch. In the late afternoon, make way to Lake Manyara National Park, a small and verdant oasis of life in the confines of the East African Rift Valley. Dinner and overnight at Maji Moto Tented Camp

Day 06
Full day in the park for game drives and enjoy the diverse habitats ranging from open grasslands to hot water springs, riverine forest and swamps to rocky outcrops, each supporting a fantastic array of wildlife and a magnificent bird life. All meals and overnight at Maji Moto Tented Camp

Day 07
After breakfast enjoy a morning game drive in the park. Lunch at the Camp. This afternoon head to Ngorongoro Crater Rim and spend your evening relaxing, watching the sunset over the Ngorongoro Crater. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Crater Lodge

After breakfast, descend to the Crater for a full days game viewing drive with picnic lunch. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Crater Lodge

After breakfast, visit the Olduvai Gorge en route to the Predator-rich Serengeti National Park. Overnight at Grumeti River Camp
