Lake Naivasha Day Trip
Lake Naivasha is the Rift Valley's highest lake (at 1884m above sea level). But there's more to this spot than the lovely blue lake. Here you will have an opportunity to see giraffes and zebras wandering freely in the acacias, Buffalo wallow in the swamps and Colobus monkeys call from the treetops while the Lakes large hippo population sleeps the day out in the shallow waters. You can also visit and learn from Elsamere Conservation Centre, the former home of late Born Free personality Joy Adamson. The region surrounding the Lake is well worth exploring. There are two smaller lakes nearby, Oloidien, and Sonachi, a bright green crater lake not forgetting, the Hells gate National Park.
Pick up from your hotel at 07:30 and depart for Lake Naivasha approximately1.30hrs leisurely drive.
Once there, you will enjoy a boat trip to Crescent Island for about 1 hour and game walk at the Crescent Island. Return to the lake shores in time for buffet lunch at Elsamere Gardens.
Watch the Joy Adamson story, a 40-minute video about Joy Adamson work, their experience with the lioness Elsa and the consequent release of the movie Born Free. Visit the museum, which houses memorabilia from the movie Born Free, Joys prints of tribal paintings and other books they wrote translated to different languages, photographs and some of the awards they won for their conservation efforts.
Afterwards, return to Nairobi and on arrival, dropped off at your hotel.
